No Exit
No Exit is a third-person stealth game built in Unreal Engine 5 for the PlayStation Career Pathways Scholars competition. Players take on the role of David, an undocumented immigrant navigating past ICE agents. Equipped with a magical studfinder, David must locate three hidden gold studs in the level to open a portal and escape to the next stage.
This project was built in just one month by a team of three and presented to a panel of judges, including Ryan McCabe, Design Manager at Insomniac Games. The demo represents what would have been the second and third levels in a full game.
My Role: Software Engineer & Designer
Implemented all core gameplay systems entirely in Unreal Blueprints, including AI perception and patrol logic, player controls, and the studfinder/portal mechanic.
Built and tuned the third-person camera and controller support for smooth player experience.
Integrated sound effects and voice lines to enhance immersion.
Set up a Perforce server for source control — my first time managing version control infrastructure for a team project.
Takeaways
Strengthened my ability to quickly prototype, iterate, and scope within a limited timeframe.
Expanded my Unreal skillset into AI perception, camera systems, controller support, and audio integration.
Learned the importance of scoping down while still delivering a fun, polished experience.
Gained confidence presenting work to industry professionals.
